Rhodalite Garnet Sterling Silver Pendant SP16

A rhodalite garnet is a variety of garnet that is a mix of pyrope and almandine garnets, named for its rose-like colors, ranging from pinkish-purple to purplish-red. Known for its attractive raspberry or grape colors, rhodolite is a durable, transparent gem that is popular for jewelry and is found in locations like Tanzania, India, and Sri Lanka.

Color and Appearance
  • Color Spectrum:

    Rhodolite garnets show a beautiful range of colors, from deep purple and raspberry red to pinkish-purple. 

    Raspberry Red:

    The most highly valued rhodolites exhibit a vibrant raspberry red color with a purplish tint. 

  • Grape Garnet:

    Pure purple hues, known as grape garnets, are also a prized variety. 

  • Origin of the Name:
    The name "rhodolite" comes from the Greek words rhodon (rose) and lithos (stone), referring to its rose-like color. The first specimens were discovered in North Carolina and resembled the color of the rhododendron flower.
