Description

1989: The persuasion to halt the Ivory Trade from the Kenyan President.

1990: the widespread ban on commercial ivory trading reduced the industry to a fraction of what it had been and elephant populations have stabilised.

'Big tusker' refers to an elephant with tusks so large that they scrape the floor. Unfortunately, the opportunities for witnessing a big tusker in its natural habitat are slim. As of today, there are approximately 20 left in the world.

Part of the New Amboseli Collection by Kerry de Bruyn.
